Police Step Up Operations to Tackle Rising Crime in Freetown
Authorities in Freetown-East are tightening security measures following a recent increase in theft, armed robbery, and street violence across the city.
At a high-level meeting on Friday, senior police officers came together to strengthen coordination between divisions and improve strategies for crime prevention. Superintendent John S. Koroma, who led the discussions, stressed the importance of teamwork in dealing with the growing security challenges.
Regional Commander AIG Francis Brima Meinday highlighted the need for discipline and joint operations such as raids, checkpoints, and targeted patrols. He noted that effective policing relies not only on intelligence gathering but also on seamless cooperation among different units.
Deputy Regional Commander ACP Patrick Lahai Dumbuya echoed these views, emphasizing professionalism and public trust as the foundation of successful law enforcement.
The officers agreed that no single division can address the challenges alone and pledged to increase joint operations across Freetown-East. Their commitment aims to boost public confidence and enhance safety in the region.
This initiative also reflects a broader vision of promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions in the country.
