Man Arrested in Mattru Jong for Posing as Police Officer
Police in Mattru Jong have arrested a man accused of impersonating an officer after he was found in full police uniform at the town’s main lorry park.
The suspect, identified as Mark Anthoney of Bo City, was apprehended on Thursday, 21st August 2025. Authorities say he pretended to be a serving member of the Sierra Leone Police but could not provide any proof when questioned.
During interrogation, the man claimed he worked for a private security outfit he called the “Sierra Leone Police Security Agency,” which he alleged operates along the Bo–Kenema Highway under the management of a man named Abdul Lumeh.
Police are investigating the validity of these claims, with officials confirming that the matter will be treated with utmost seriousness. The suspect remains in custody while assisting investigators.
Authorities have also cautioned the public to remain vigilant and report anyone suspected of impersonating security personnel, warning that such acts undermine trust and could be exploited for criminal purposes.
