The ceremony saw Mr. David Fortune assume the role of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, while Mr. Paul Hingha Augustine Charles Tucker took the position of Deputy Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation.
The swearing-in took place in line with the country’s constitutional requirement that ministers and deputy ministers take an oath before taking up their duties. The Secretary to the President explained that the appointments followed the President’s nominations and parliamentary approval.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Mr. Tucker expressed gratitude to President Bio for the trust placed in them. He pledged that they would support their supervising ministers in implementing government policies and addressing national challenges with diligence.
President Bio congratulated the new deputy ministers, highlighting the responsibility ahead of them. He noted that despite current challenges, including limited resources driven by global geopolitical tensions, he expects them to bring fresh ideas and adopt innovative approaches to strengthen national development.
