Liberia and Sierra Leone Police Chiefs Meet President Bio to Boost Regional Security

On Thursday, 20 November 2025, Liberia’s Inspector General of Police, Gregory O. W. Coleman, and Sierra Leone’s Inspector General, William Fayia Sellu, held a high-level meeting with President Julius Maada Bio at State House in Freetown.

During the discussions, the two police chiefs proposed creating a Mano River Union (MRU) Chiefs of Police Committee, a new platform designed to strengthen regional security cooperation. The talks focused on improving collaboration in law enforcement, intelligence sharing, and joint security operations across the sub-region.

President Bio praised the initiative and affirmed his government’s commitment to supporting regional strategies that enhance peace and stability. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among MRU countries to combat cross-border crime and share critical information effectively.

The police chiefs also met with Vice President Dr. Juleh Jalloh, who highlighted the shared history, culture, and bonds between Sierra Leone and Liberia. He commended Inspector General Coleman for his dedication to regional security and the partnership between the two countries to ensure safer communities.

This visit is part of ongoing engagements between Liberia and Sierra Leone police leadership aimed at developing a more unified approach to regional security challenges.
