
First Lady Fatima Bio Meets UN Women Delegation, Strengthens Ties for Women’s Empowerment
Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has met with Madam Setcheme Jeronine Mongbo, Head of UN Women in Sierra Leone, and her team to discuss ways of deepening collaboration on women’s empowerment and development. The meeting, held on August 20, 2025, was described as highly productive, with both sides exploring avenues for stronger partnership.
Dr. Bio expressed her gratitude for the ongoing cooperation with UN Women, noting that their shared efforts continue to advance the rights and well-being of women in the country. During the visit, Madam Mongbo congratulated the First Lady on her recent election as President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
