Africell Sierra Leone Introduces Easy SIM Update with NIN

Africell Sierra Leone has rolled out a user-friendly process for customers to update their SIM cards using their National Identification Number (NIN), making it quicker and more convenient to stay connected while complying with national regulations.

Subscribers can now complete the update directly from their mobile phones. By dialing *999# and following the prompts, users simply enter their NIN and year of birth to complete the process.

For those who prefer in-person support, Africell service centers across the country are also offering assistance with no extra hassle.

According to Africell’s Customer Experience Manager, Abdul Kamara, the new process is designed to be both secure and convenient.

> “We’re making it easier for our customers to update their information on their own terms. This approach helps them stay connected while following the law,” he said.

Customers who don’t yet have a National Identification Number are advised to visit the nearest National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) office to register and obtain their National ID card. An NCRA representative highlighted the importance of registration, noting that the card is essential for accessing many services, including mobile connectivity.

This initiative is part of Africell’s broader commitment to improving customer experience while ensuring full compliance with national telecom regulations.
