SLFA President Babadi Kamara Vows to Champion Gender Equality in Football

Newly elected Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President, Babadi Kamara, has promised to make gender equality a cornerstone of his leadership. In his first public address since taking office on August 6, he called for equal investment, exposure, and opportunities for female footballers across the country.

Kamara stressed that women’s football should receive the same level of attention and resources as the men’s game, describing it as essential for the overall growth of the sport. He also placed strong emphasis on grassroots development, pledging to nurture young talent nationwide to strengthen Sierra Leone’s competitiveness on the continental and global stage.

On infrastructure, Kamara committed to working with the government, corporate partners, and international bodies to improve the country’s playing facilities, acknowledging the challenges posed by poor pitch conditions and limited resources.

He further outlined his ambition for the national teams, including the Leone Stars, to be disciplined, competitive, and respected symbols of pride for Sierra Leone. His remarks have been warmly received by fans, players, and football stakeholders, fueling optimism for a new era in the country’s football scene.
