Sierra Leone Crushes Eswatini by 149 Runs in ICC Women’s T20 Africa Qualifier

Sierra Leone Women delivered a stunning performance against Eswatini Women in Group B of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2, securing a dominant 149-run victory.

The match, played on Monday, July 21, began with Eswatini winning the toss and opting to bowl. However, their decision quickly backfired.

Batting first, Sierra Leone set a powerful tone with a total of 190 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Emma Kamara stood out with a composed 71 off 60 balls, while solid contributions from Marie Turay (23), Aminata Kamara (18), and Ann Kamara (13) kept the momentum going.

Eswatini’s bowlers managed to pick up a few wickets, but couldn’t prevent the flow of runs as Sierra Leone’s batters maintained pressure throughout the innings.

Chasing a target of 191, Eswatini’s batting lineup collapsed early. They struggled to gain any footing and ended their 20 overs at just 41 runs for 8 wickets. Only Nothando Mabila showed some resistance, remaining unbeaten on 20 from 18 deliveries. The rest of the lineup failed to handle the sharp and consistent bowling attack from Sierra Leone.

Aminata Kamara led the bowling charge with three wickets, while Emma Kamara added two more to her all-round performance. Linda Bull, Celina Bull, and a run-out contributed to sealing the comprehensive win.

This massive margin of victory boosts Sierra Leone’s standing in Group B and highlights their growing strength in the tournament.
