Murder Trial of Abdul Kpaka Stalled as Jurors Fail to Appear
The trial of Abdul Kpaka, accused of murdering his girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara, has once again been delayed after most jurors failed to appear in court.
Seven of the twelve jurors, including the foreman, were absent during the scheduled hearing, forcing the judge to postpone proceedings until August 22, 2025. The foreman reportedly excused himself due to academic examinations.
Defense lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma expressed deep concern over the repeated delays, calling them “unnecessary” and disruptive to the quest for justice. He also criticized the prosecution for contributing to the situation.
In response, state prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay denied responsibility and explained that the judge’s own availability had also played a role in earlier adjournments. He insisted that the foreman’s excuse was valid and reminded the court that all twelve jurors must be present before the trial can legally continue.
At the last hearing in July, Sia Fatu Kamara’s younger sister, Christiana, testified about her late sister’s relationship with Kpaka. While she mentioned suspicions of abusive behavior, she said her sister only reported verbal abuse and not physical violence. She also described seeing injuries on her sister’s lips after her death, which raised further concerns.
Kpaka is currently facing charges of murder and attempting to obstruct justice. With the case now pushed forward once again, the family of the late Sia Fatu Kamara continues to wait for justice.
